Meredith: [narrating] The game. They say a person either has what it takes to play or they don't. My mother was one of the greats. Me on the other hand. I'm kinda screwed.
MEREDITH: [narrating] "I can't think of a single reason why I should be a surgeon, but I can think of a thousand reasons why I should quit. They make it hard on purpose. There are lives in our hands. There comes a moment when it's more than just a game, and you either take that step forward or turn around and walk away. I could quit, but here's the thing. I love the playing field."
CRISTINA: "You should get some sleep, you look like crap."
MEREDITH: "I look better than you."
CRISTINA: "That’s not possible."
MEREDITH: "Just go to sleep."
KATIE: "I can't sleep, my head's all full."
MEREDITH: "That's called thinking. Go with it."
“When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream.” p120
Never put off the work till tomorrow what you can do today. -Thomas Jefferson
We spend our whole lives worrying about the future, planning for the future, trying to predict the future, as if figuring it out will cushion the blow. But the future is always changing. The future is the home of our deepest fears and wildest hopes. But one thing is certain when it finally reveals itself. The future is never the way we imagined it. —Meredith (Grey's Anatomy S05E23 , closing voiceover)
Robin:Every good relationship has a reacher and a settler.
Ted:Exactly. One person reaches for someone out of their league; the other one settles for someone below theirs.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Seems Dickens knew something about life on the upper east side.
