對於很不安的字會去查英英辭典。
如果像是名詞類的，舉例：popover、alcove，可能直接google看圖片才更清楚。
這時候英英辭典，因為沒有中文解釋或是圖片可能就幫不上忙。

不安的字有很多類型，就舉中文例子來說
水滸傳裡有段：「有淚有聲謂之哭，有淚無聲謂之泣，無淚有聲謂之號。」

「哭、泣、號」如果不去查中文辭典，以我的中文能力，很簡單地把這類歸於「難過地哭」
但實際上，字義是必須從典故、出處、辭典中才有機會發掘更深的含意。

就這例子來說，即便我們母語是中文，中文程度的高下，就在這細微之處見真章。

這禮拜Desperate Housewives 7-5 "Let Me Entertain You"有一段對話是個很好的例子
Keith: I'm dating a woman who talks to waiters in French and wants to discuss a play's symbolism during half time.

Bree: Intermission. 

Keith: You see? You're ten times smarter than me. That's why I keep sexing you up. I'm trying to keep you interested.

從這段話中，就可以看出Keith和Bree的教育程度，或者說英文用詞的程度不同。
intermission[countable] especially American English
a short period of time between the parts of a play, concert etc [= interlude; = interval BrE]

half-time , half time [uncountable]
a short period of rest between two parts of a game, such as football or basketball
可見Keith應該是運動迷，用的詞half time是體育運動的「中場休息時間」
而Bree說得intermission在"The Necklace"裡面出現過指（戲劇、電影等的）幕間休息

恰當貼切的用詞，是我目前的學習目標。
這就是為什麼我必須要查英英辭典
甚至我也想要好好地精深中文詞彙，查中文辭典
心得：辭典對學習語言真的很重要。
